We will come to you and carry out a fully diagnostic on your vehicle. Please note that most early vehicle prior to about 1998 did not have computer diagnostics.
We capture the diagnostic report and will email a copy to you immediately for your records.
We will discuss and advise on possible solutions to your problems.
Should a control module need coding to the vehicle we will carry it out at the time. In remote areas we may need access to a wi-fi signal. On the later Mercedes items such as the headlamps and rear lamps need coding to the vehicle for them to work. Even units such as the SAM (signal acquisition module) is mainly plug and play as a second-hand unit but there are many options programmed into the SAM that are personal to your vehicle. You may be lucky and everything works but if not we have the solution.
On Smart vehicle, if you have a SAM problem, the vehicle will invariably not start. Yes you can buy a new SAM from Smart but unfortunately it needs coding to the vehicle and also carry out SCN coding which makes sure the vehicle is set up the way it was when it left the factory. We can do this for you without having to take it to the dealership.
Air conditioning on some Mercedes will not work even if you have had the car recharged with gas. This is because the system needs to be told that the re-work has been carried out, it will recheck itself and hey presto it will start working again after the codes are cleared and it has been reset.
Diagnostics on all vehicles is not the B all and End all to vehicle problems. It is a guide to a problem and the information given, together with a good knowledge of how that vehicle works, on most occasions guides you to a solution. An example if this is where a vehicle is experiencing a lack of power. The diagnostics will show that the air flow meter is possibly faulty, low boost pressure sensor fault and also possibly exhaust back pressure fault. We have seen vehicle in where all these parts have been changes with the customer at their wits end. All that was need was a new boost pressure pipe that had a split in it and this was causing all the above concerns.
The cheap diagnostic scanners that can be purchased can often cause more problems that they are worth. They can do lots of day-to-day diagnosis on vehicles but be aware. Some of the codes and information they give can be incorrect. Different manufactures use the same code to mean totally different error information. They can be useful for a quick code clear on some occasions but for a rear solution, only the manufacturer tools will give you the accurate information.

For some time now we have been asked if we could possibly offer a mobile service for both the Retail and Trade sector. Often it is the case that a new part has been purchased and need coding to the vehicle before it will become operational. With the car immobilised the only solution is to get it recovered to the local Mercedes Dealership and wait for them to carry this out for you costing you both extra time and money. Mercedes Dealership are notoriously busy all the year around, so the wait is often in excess of a week.
